2ndannouncement

Dear Colleague,

Registration and the call for abstracts are now open for the 2008 Users’ Meeting.

The Molecular Foundry (TMF), a DOE-funded Nanoscale Research Center, and the National Center for Electron Microscopy (NCEM) at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory are pleased to announce their joined 2008 User Meeting, scheduled for November 10-11, 2008.

Our Centers are user facilities for industrial, academic and national laboratory researchers for work on proprietary and non-proprietary projects. Whether you are a returning user, interested in becoming a user, or someone who is simply curious about the capabilities that are currently available, you are welcome to attend.

In addition to our conference presentation agenda we expect to have stimulating topical workshops including the following areas:

Nanostructured materials and architectures for photovoltaics
Quantitative Ultra-high resolution electron microscopy
Surface science
Nanophotonics & plasmonics for optical nanoantennas
Applications of nanoscience to biological imaging
Computational Spectroscopy of nanostructured materials
Structure & dynamics at interfaces in inorganic nanostructures
Probing nanomaterials with spectroscopy in electron microscopes

Our User Executive Committees will receive and review abstracts from the User community. The abstracts are to be one page in total length and are to include a 100-word short-abstract followed by a talk summary (including figures). Abstract submission is now available on-line at: http://foundry.lbl.gov/workshops/user2008/.

The deadline for submitting an abstract is Friday, September 26. Authors of abstracts selected for oral presentations will be notified by October 10. All submissions will automatically be accepted for the poster session during the User Meeting.

Please register and view our schedule of events and further details on our web-page at http://foundry.lbl.gov/workshops/user2008/ We look forward to seeing you at the meeting and to hearing about your exciting work.
