Molecular Foundry Seminar

"Engineered Polymers by the RAFT method,"
Dr. Ming Chen, CSIRO Molecular and Health Technologies,

Tuesday, May 11th at 1:30 pm, Bldg. 66-Auditorium

Abstract:

In this talk, I will first give a brief introduction of CSIRO, the
National research organization of Australia, then I will present our
work in the field of living radical polymerization, partially the RAFT
technology. The use of RAFT to make engineered photoactive and
electroactive materials will also be discussed. Finally, I will talk
about our recent activities in the field of printable organic
electronics.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Dr. Ming Chen is a senor research scientist and research team leader at
CSIRO Molecular and Health Technologies in Clayton, focusing on the
development of new polymeric materials for printable solar cell
applications. Ming obtained his Ph.D. from The University of Melbourne
in 2004 and M.Sc. and B.Sc. from Tsinghua University, China. Ming has
more than 30 publications in peer-reviewed journals and 2 granted
patents. Ming was a recipient of the CSIRO 2008 Julius Career Award
and the 2009 Victoria Fellowship for exceptional early career
scientists. Currently Ming is a Visiting Scholar at Stanford
University for six months.
