Abstract:

Diblock and random copolymers have been extensively designed and explored for their use in controlling interfacial energies, interactions and structures. Polymers confined to 2-dimensional interfaces are completely at the mercy of their environment and exhibit minimal properties associated with the polymer in the bulk. Synthetic diblock copolymers studied intensively in the academic laboratory and random copolymers of natural origin observed in a biopharmaceutical setting demonstrate the exquisite control nature and humans have in tuning molecular interactions.
