My research focuses on the study of the physics of organization and assembly of macromolecular systems. I am currently developing tip-based nanofabrication strategies to create chemical templates for organization of functional virus capsids on surfaces. This will facilitate the investigation of the assembly of capsids on two dimensional templates that can be achieved by in situ AFM microscopy. In addition, force spectroscopy can be implemented to extract the interfacial energies and kinetic barriers that drive the organization of capsids on the templates. Eventually we aim to relate the organization of the capsids to their functionality and demonstrate the use of those nanoscale templates to attain new functionality.
