  • December 2013 – SOFs take to water. The 2D SOFs is featured as a JACS cover art, and also under the spotlight of LBNL news center and many other media such as SciTechDaily and ScienceDaily.
  • October 2013 – Molecular "aligner", when blended in 1wt% ratio with the "matrix" molecules, can induce changes of crystallites' orientation, and subsequently results in enhanced n-type field effect mobility. Yue and David's latest work will soon appear in Adv. Mater.
  • September 2013 – In collaboration with Prof. Zhan-Ting Li at Fudan University and Prof Xin Zhao at Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, supramolecular polymeric frameworks are realized through cooperative radical dimerizations between electron donors or acceptors. A more elegant design based on host-guest inclusion complexes led to a 2D soluble organic framework in solution. These results are published recently in J. Am. Chem. Soc. , Polym. Chem. , and Chem. Eur. J.

  • August 2013 – Florian and Andrew have demonstrated in their J. Mater. Chem. C paper that substrate-induced crystallization of n-type rylene diimides can be induced at liquid-solid-air interface, which result in better OFET performances.

  • July 2013 – In collaboration with Marcus Scheele and Jessie Engle in Alivisatos's group at UC Berkeley, nonmonotonic size dependence in the hole mobility of methoxide stabilized PbSe quantum dot solids has been revealed in ACS Nano.

  • June 2013 - Liana's ligands led to the discovery of cooperative reorganization of mineral and template during directed nucleation of calcium carbonate. This is a collaboration with Dr. Jon Lee at Lawrence Livermore National Lab and Dr. Jim De Yoreo at Pacific Northwest National Lab. See the full article in J. Phys. Chem. C.
