The Molecular Foundry A National Nanoscience Research Facilty

Nanoscience Workshop for Science Educators

A Professional Development Opportunity
for Secondary Educators, July 6, 2010 - 9AM to 2PM

Educator WorkshopNanoscience is integral to much of today's most promising research, including the production of more efficient solar cells like the one pictured above.

What: The Molecular Foundry presents a one-day workshop for science educators interested in learning basic concepts and research developments in nanoscience.

Why: Nanoscience draws on our ability to work with materials on the atomic and molecular scale. Using aspects of chemistry, physics, biology and engineering, nanoscience is being applied to scientific problems in energy, healthcare, security and technology. [Visit Nano 101 to learn more.]

How: We provide you with content to take back to your classrooms that will help students get excited about the possibilities of nanoscience, explore careers in science and engineering, and become scientifically literate members of society.

Who: If you are a high school teacher or community college instructor in biology, physics, chemistry, engineering, or mathematics, we invite you to join us for an interactive workshop in which you will:

  • Learn about nanoscience and how it impacts our lives
  • Receive a nanoscience kit for your classroom with activities and background information
  • Interact with Berkeley Lab scientists studying nanoscience
  • Tour the Molecular Foundry and its laboratories

When: July 6, 2010, 9 AM – 2 PM (coffee and lunch will be served)

Where: The Molecular Foundry, Bldg. 67, Room 3204, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory [see map and directions].

TO REGISTER, or if you have questions, please call or email Aditi Risbud, 510.486.4861 or asrisbud@lbl.gov by June 21, 2010.

We look forward to seeing you at the Foundry!
