Research Interests

Steven Louie's research interests are in theoretical condensed matter physics.  He is best known for his work on first-principles studies of materials and nanostructures, in particular their excited-state properties.  He has published over 400 papers covering the areas of electronic and structural properties of solids, surfaces and nanostructures, quasiparticle and optical excitations in bulk and reduced-dimensional systems, semiconductor physics, superconductivity, and nanoscience.  He has 5 patents and has co-edited three monographs."
