Molecular Foundry User, Craig Fennie, received one of this year’s 24 MacArthur Fellowship Awards – commonly known as “Genius Awards” – for his research on the material properties of new nanostructures. Fennie, assistant professor of applied and engineering physics at Weill Cornell Medical College, has designed new materials with electrical, optical and magnetic properties needed for electronics and communication technology. At the Foundry, he has worked with staff and Users in the Theory of Nanostructured Materials Facility to engineer transition metal oxide thin films to access energetically useful optical properties of photoelectrochemistry.
