As of October 1, 2014, the Molecular Foundry includes the National Center for Electron Microscopy (NCEM). Previously, NCEM was a separate user facility, but at the request of DOE and in response to evolving research needs, NCEM is now one of the seven facilities within the Molecular Foundry. This merger provides outstanding new characterization capabilities to the Foundry, enhancing its position as a leader in nanoscience research, and streamlines the user program and proposal process. “Maintaining the world-leading excellence in electron microscopy established by NCEM will be a high priority for the newly constituted Foundry, and we look forward to the exciting nanoscience opportunities that will emerge through closer collaborations between staff and users,” said Don DePaolo, Associate Laboratory Director for Energy Sciences.
