New Deputy Secretary Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall met with Foundry scientists and visited several labs during her visit to LBL on Tuesday, March 24. Sherwood-Randall joined the Department of Energy last October and is responsible for management of the Department and execution of the Administration’s highest priority energy initiatives. During her time at the Foundry, she learned about the vital role the Molecular Foundry plays in the discovery and understanding of new materials by facilitating collaborative research for scientists around the world. She learned about the impact and potential of nanoscience while visiting the Foundry’s cleanroom, several of the facility’s combinatorial synthesis robots, and the TEAM 1 microscope.
