Energy Secretary Rick Perry toured the Foundry as part of his recent visit to Berkeley Lab. During his time at the Foundry, he learned about the vital role the Molecular Foundry plays in the discovery and understanding of new materials by facilitating collaborative research for scientists around the world. He learned about the impact and potential of nanoscience while visiting the Foundry’s combinatorial synthesis robots, viewing bioimaging probes through a confocal microscope, and learning about the TEAM 0.5 microscope.
During the Secretary’s town hall meeting, he cited two of the Foundry’s industry users, Raymond Weitekamp of polySpectra and Ambika Bumb of Bikanta, as examples of how research at the National Labs could change the world.
