Talk Title: Improving Research Culture: Why We Need to Keep Talking about Diversity in Science
Location: Chemla Room (67-3111)
Biography:
Dr. Jess Wade completed an MSci in physics at Imperial before beginning a PhD under the supervision of Dr Ji-Seon Kim. Jess is now a post-doc working with Professor Alisdair Campbell and Dr Matt Fuchter, on chiral organic light emitting diodes.
Jess has tackled many science-outreach projects aimed at fostering diversity. In particular, she is celebrated for her efforts to raise the profile of underrepresented groups in science. Her work came to public notice when the media picked up on the hundreds of Wikipedia pages on female scientists she has written, outside of her day job at the Centre for Plastic Electronics.
