Due to the ongoing pandemic, the Foundry hosted its 2021 Annual Safety Retreat virtually, organized by the Foundry’s Safety Committee, with a theme of Safely Returning to Onsite Work at the Molecular Foundry. The Retreat is an important part of our approach to proactively maintain the healthy culture at the Molecular Foundry that is so vital to our success as researchers and as an organization.
Led by Foundry Facilities and EHS Manager Michael Wisherop, the Foundry’s staff and users participated in four virtual sessions led by Berkeley Lab’s EHS and facilities staff:
- Friday July 9, 2021 – General Session
- Friday July 16, 2021 – EHS Session 1
- Friday July 23, 2021 – EHS Session 2 (Return to Lab)
- Friday July 30, 2021 – Facility-specific Return to Work Planning
The sessions covered topics like COVID-19 policy changes, Fire Hazards, Public Safety Power Shutdowns (PSPS), and Chemical Life-Cycle Management.
