Biography:
Dr. Michael Grabe is a Professor at the University of California, San Francisco at the Cardiovascular Research Institute. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley. His lab uses computational methods to understand biological phenomena. He is primarily interested in ion and small molecule transport across cellular membranes. He wishes to understand the molecular workings of ion channels and transporters as well as how these proteins work together to regulate ion homeostasis in excitable cells and intracellular organelles such as the lysosome. He is also interested in the role that membrane proteins play in controlling the intrinsic shape of organelles.
