Scientific Achievement
Synthesized and characterized new halide perovskite nanocrystals and developed a stability measurement.
Significance and Impact
Lead content and stability impede commercial development of halide perovskite materials; Understanding optical properties and stability helps evaluate candidate materials. Cs2AgInCl6 is much more stable than Sb or Bi containing candidates.
Research Details
- Nanocubes (10 nm length) of all three double perovskite can be synthesized in simple hot injection reaction.
- No double perovskite nanocrystals show quantum confinement in this size regime.
- Amine degradation reactions can be followed optically and allow determination of degradation equilibrium constants: 5×105, 3×103 and 40 for Sb, Bi and In materials as quantitative stability measures.
