Dear Foundry Community,
With 2025 well underway, the Molecular Foundry continues to thrive as a hub for innovation, collaboration, and scientific discovery. This year is already shaping up to be an exciting one, with new capabilities coming online and opportunities to engage with the Foundry in fresh ways. Along this vein, the Foundry’s research and operations staff recently gathered for a one-day retreat on the USS Hornet in Alameda to assess where we are as an organization and discuss new and upcoming capabilities. As part of the retreat, the staff spent time talking through potential collaborations and strategic directions for the Foundry.
As you might have noticed, we have also been working to highlight the emerging talent of early career researchers through our inaugural Rising Star Seminar Series. This series provides a platform for postdocs and junior researchers to present their work to a broad audience, fostering new connections and collaborations. The series continues through April 1 and I would encourage everyone to attend or tune in on Zoom.
We also look forward to hearing from you and seeing your research ideas in the Spring proposal call, and I’d like to highlight that our Data group will be receiving proposals for the development of high-throughput data analysis and data management techniques. The call is open from Monday, March 3 through March 27.
As my time as Interim Director of the Molecular Foundry comes to a close, I want to express my deepest gratitude to our incredible staff, users, and collaborators. It has been an honor to help guide this facility and witness the innovation made possible through our shared efforts. The Foundry’s strength lies in its vibrant community, where innovation thrives through collaboration. I look forward to seeing how the next chapter unfolds when Ashfia Huq takes the helm at the end of March. Thank you for your support, dedication, and inspiration.
Best Regards,
Andy
