Talk Title: Theories of Excited State Phenomena in Quantum Materials and Applications
Zoom link
Liang Tan’s research uses first-principles calculations to understand light-matter interactions at the nanoscale. He is interested in the discovery of new photophysical phenomena, their realization in nanomaterials, and their applications in optoelectronics, light harvesting, and quantum information science. Development of new theoretical methods is used to describe phenomena that lie beyond the “standard model” of ground state density functional theory and its perturbations. His research group has worked on a broad range of materials systems including complex quantum materials, organic/inorganic hybrids, and defective and heterogeneous systems.
