Bio:
Kristen Frederick-Frost is a Curator in the Division of Medicine and Science at the Smithsonian Institution. She has a B.S. from Bates College, a M.Sc. from the University of Oxford, and a Ph.D. from Dartmouth College.
Research:
Her research specialties include the history of physics and chemistry, with a focus on laboratory instrumentation and notebooks. Research projects include the following: the early history of forensic science at government laboratories; the history of the National Bureau of Standards/National Institute of Standards and Technology; priority disputes concerning the rare earth elements 71 and 72; and Henry Moseley’s X-ray spectroscopy.
