User Program Senior Advisor
Dr. Alison Hatt is a Senior Advisor to the User Program at the Molecular Foundry. Formerly the User Program Director, Alison is currently assisting the Foundry in its leadership transition, supporting her successor to the role, Dr. Shannon Ciston.
In her time as User Program Director, Dr. Hatt oversaw the Foundry’s dramatic scale-up from several hundred users to more than 1,000 users annually. She served as a member of the Foundry’s senior management team and acted on behalf of the Division Director as the chief spokesperson for the Foundry’s User Program.
Dr. Hatt first joined the Molecular Foundry in 2010 as a postdoctoral fellow in the Theory of Nanostructured Materials Facility. She also has a background in science writing and communication, and previously served as Public Affairs Specialist for the Materials Sciences Division, where she facilitated communication between MSD scientists, DOE, and the general public, as well as contributed to strategic oversight of the Division. Dr. Hatt received a Ph.D. in Materials from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a B.S. in Physics from the University of Utah.
