Over the past 19 months, the Foundry implemented a number of operational changes to create safe working conditions for our staff and users. While distancing requirements relaxed over the summer, we are quite proud of the innovations implemented by our staff and expect many of the improvements to remain as we inch towards new working models at the Foundry. These advances range from changing how we do training to modifying instruments to be able to control them remotely.
Many of the the new developments were described in our Foundry from Home podcast (transcripts available):
- Operating the World’s Most Powerful Microscopes Remotely
- AR and Remote Data Processing in the Bio Facility
- Video Training & Distanced Support in the Organic Facility
- Holographic AR in the Nanofabrication Clean Room
- Enabling User Science with New Tools in the Inorganic Facility
- Innovating Ways to Collaborate and Manage Data in the Theory Facility
- Turning Knobs Remotely – Customizations in the Imaging Facility
