A new podcast from UC Berkeley’s Naresh Sunkara seeks to inform researchers interested in taking their discoveries out of the lab. In the new “Lab to Startup” podcast, the show aims to share stories of those scientists and engineers who have successfully founded startups based on the research at university and national labs, as well as to highlight the resources and tools needed to help those aspiring to launch startups in the deeptech space.
The Foundry’s Deputy Director, Branden Brough, and User Program Director, Shannon Ciston, were featured in the first episode where they discussed:
- World-class scientists with expertise across a broad range of disciplines and state-of-the-art instrumentation.
- How to get accepted to the program
- Cost to users (mostly free)
- Intellectual property rights from using their support
- Examples of startups that benefited from the program
