Biography:
Dr. Shelley Claridge is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry & Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University. She received her PhD in Chemistry from the University at California, Berkeley. A central theme in her group is the development of new self-assembly and integrated imaging strategies that advance the limits of interfacial ordering complexity and structural analysis, mirroring the structural diversity and functional precision achieved in biology.
Her group works to address challenges ranging from optimizing the performance of nanoscopic materials to understanding membrane protein structure. These include: patterning surface chemistry on the 5-10 nm scale, development of custom nanoscale surface analysis instrumentation, unconventional applications of bioanalytical techniques, integrating molecular modeling and advanced interfacial characterization, and synthesis of novel polymerizable amphiphiles.
